Creative expression through the arts of painting and poetry is my way to collaborate with the world.  I am always intrigued by the way history and culture influence our interactions and perceptions, and I love exploring this influence through art. I am fascinated as well by the way a painting can give us a window into our world or a glimpse into the past. I find that art can make us think differently, see something in a new way, or realize the beauty or significance in something that was taken for granted before.  It reminds us to be mindful of our world. I hope you enjoy my interpretations.

Painting, Poetry
I have had several poetry chapbooks published. Excerpts from their introductions: "Magic Lamp, Pillar and Comet" alludes to the many facets that life can take on. These poems explore some of those varied angles. Poetry can distill our thoughts and act as a companion through the navigation of life’s many dimensions. "Memory Echoes" was created as poetic memoir. Examining the past through poetry helps to ground the present by putting things into perspective and clarifying what is truly important. Even small bits of history can provide insight into relationships, whether humorous or more serious.
"Queen Anne's Lace" was created as part of a Haiku poetry challenge.  I enjoyed the way the succinct Haiku format brought focus to observations along with a special appreciation of our everyday surroundings.  The title is found within the collected poems and
refers to the casual beauty that is all around us.  The Queen Anne's Lace flower also symbolizes "haven" or "sanctuary" and I like to think of poetry as a safe place to examine our world and try to make sense of it all.  Thank you for taking the time to join in on the experience. I enjoy collaborating with others on artistic endeavors.
